The UN 2030 Agenda is a global action plan adopted by the United Nations. The action plan contains 17 goals for sustainable development, known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The agenda was adopted in 2015 with the aim of creating a more sustainable world by 2030 through, for example, poverty reduction, climate protection, social justice and education. The SDGs are aimed at states as well as civil society, science and business. The mid-term review took place in May 2023, which clearly shows that the global community needs to accelerate its efforts immensely. Most recently, the coronavirus pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the indebtedness of many countries have set back progress on the agenda.
One of the core aspects of the agenda is goal no. 11, "Sustainable cities and communities". Sustainable building operation marks a decisive role here, as does the reduction of gray energy. The building sector is also directly affected by Goal 7. The aspect "Affordable and clean energy" is aimed at expanding renewable energies and thus also at greater energy efficiency in the building sector.
