Proprietary systems  are technologies and solutions controlled by a single manufacturer, featuring  specific standards and interfaces. Compatibility is generally restricted to  solutions from the same manufacturer. This closed architecture has both  advantages and disadvantages in building management. On the plus side,  proprietary systems usually offer comprehensive support from the  manufacturer, regular updates, and enhanced security standards. The  components within the system are also optimally integrated. However, reliance on a single manufacturer can lead to higher operating costs and dependency on  one supplier. Integration with other hardware and software components is not  possible, which can limit usage and customization options. In intelligent building management, proprietary systems provide high reliability and  security, but they also present challenges due to their limited flexibility.
