The Building Management Technology (BMT) is the central level of building automation on which technical systems are monitored, coordinated, and controlled. It integrates data from sensors, actuators, and controllers into a comprehensive view of building operations and helps operator teams classify alarms more quickly, detect malfunctions, and operate systems more efficiently. This can include HVAC systems as well as lighting and access systems.

Traditional BMT is implemented and operated locally within a building. However, with the increasing digitalization of building operations, cloud-based approaches are emerging. A cloud-based BMT adds a cloud-based management layer to traditional building management technology, offering intuitive visualization and remote access to selected functions.
