Dr.-Ing. Johannes Fütterer

Engineer. Founder. Thought Leader.

Dr.-Ing. Johannes Fütterer demonstrates how transparency, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems turn buildings into value-stable, sustainable, and future-proof assets — scalable, economical, and without capital expenditure.

Biography – Who Is Johannes Fütterer?

Dr.-Ing. Johannes Fütterer is the CEO and Co-Founder of aedifion GmbH — Germany’s leading software platform for optimizing building operations. With over 15 years of experience in building automation, AI research, and energy technology, he combines engineering depth with entrepreneurial practice.

Johannes completed his PhD in mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University with a focus on building and indoor climate technology. In his dissertation, he developed a cloud-based algorithm for optimizing building energy systems — the scientific foundation of what aedifion is today.

In 2017, he co-founded aedifion together with Dr. Jan Henrik Ziegeldorf, Felix Dorner, and Erik Brümmendorf, supported by the EXIST Research Transfer program of the BMWK. Today, aedifion employs more than 100 employees, operates in 10 European countries, and most recently closed a Series B round of 17 million EUR.

His mission: Make one million buildings more efficient, more profitable, and more sustainable.

“We don't build software for the sake of software — we build impact. Buildings can be part of the solution for a livable planet. And we prove it every day.”
