A data hub is a central platform or storage architecture that enables the centralized consolidation and exchange of data from various sources. Data is collected, stored, processed and distributed in the data hub, therefore data hubs are the central nodes of a communication system. Nodes enable holistic data analysis and management, and different systems can communicate seamlessly with each other as data is collected in a standardized format. In building operations, data hubs are the central data management system. Information from the various sources in the building is collected here. This creates a link between the systems, sensor technology and other relevant sources, allowing optimization algorithms to be implemented in the next step. Data hubs create decision-making aids for automated processes and procedures, for example in the areas of heating, cooling, lighting and ventilation, thanks to the holistic data basis. Maintenance requirements can also be identified at an early stage in the sense of predictive maintenance.
