Access control in buildings is based on a security system that regulates and controls access to the entire building or to parts of it. In this process, entry is made via clearly defined physical authorizations. The control system usually includes several different components, such as electronic locks, readers, access cards and a central control unit that manages the authorizations. The process in access control is usually initiated by identification at the point of entry. This is followed by authorization verification via the control unit, which compares the identification with the authorizations in a database. After access is granted or denied, logging is still performed to track it if necessary. Extended accordingly, it can also be used to log working hours. In the building, the access control system is part of the technical building equipment. Digitized, the systems can be operated as needed and integrated into the building automation system. The living and working comfort for users is improved by optimized access control systems. Controlled access systems are also part of the ISO 27001 certification.
