Smart meter rollout

Smart meter rollout

The term "Smart Meter Rollout" refers to the widespread deployment of intelligent metering systems in a country or region. As central data hubs in the smart grid, intelligent metering systems are fundamental to the successful digitalization of the energy transition. In Germany, the rollout schedule is regulated by the "Act to Restart the Digitization of the Energy Transition." It is staggered and depends on the consumption and capacity of the generation plants installed in the building. The costs for installation and operation are borne by the consumers or producers, varying depending on the building and electricity consumption and subject to certain price caps.

While the basic metering point operator is responsible for installing the smart meters, aedifion, thanks to our network of hardware and digitalization partners, can provide consulting support for developing customized metering concepts in buildings upon request. Our services range from concept development to the subsequent installation and operation of the meters in the building.
