Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor (CRREM)

The Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor (CRREM) is a tool that provides the real estate industry with well-founded and transparent decarbonization pathways for buildings. These pathways are aligned with the requirements of the Paris Climate Agreement. CRREM also takes into account the specific sector and region to determine the CO2 emissions reductions needed during the operational phase. Asset managers and property owners can thus identify in advance which buildings in their portfolio face a high risk of not meeting regulatory requirements and being classified as "stranded assets." CRREM also calculates the likely timing of such a classification. "Stranded assets" lose value before the end of their economic lifespan because they fail to meet environmental standards.
